Pocket Quartet
Friday, October 18th 2024, 7 PM, doors open 6:30
$20 advance, $25 at the door
Unmistakably distinctive, Pocket combines the freewheeling groove and grit of mid-century blues and jazz with original compositions and instrumentation. Consisting of David Dvorin on electric guitar, Randy McKean on contra-alto clarinet, Tim Bulkley on drums, and Matt Langley on soprano and tenor saxophone, the quartet integrates rhythmic swagger along with tight chamber music-like interplay to create a feel all its own. The group will be featuring bandleader and composer David Dvorin’s recently composed music inspired by hard-boiled detective fiction of the 1930s-1950s, depicting shady characters, sordid scenes, and pulse-raising action.

Women’s History Month
Saturday, March 30th 2024, 11 AM — 3:30 PM
The Grass Valley Museum is unusual for gold rush sites in its interpretation of women's history. We take visitors from the nuns to the notorious. We show the town's history through the lens of women, from the legendary Lola Montez and Lotta Crabtree to the under-told stories of orphans and single parent households.
